HALEY HECKETHORN is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2013, she continued her professional training at Arts Umbrella under the direction of Artemis Gordon. During her time at Arts Umbrella, she was awarded the Emerging Artist Scholarship from the RBC Canada Council, participated in the Young Choreographers Program mentored by Crystal Pite, and performed and toured repertoire by Sharon Eyal, William Forsythe, Nacho Duato, and many others. Haley has attended workshops with Netherlands Dans Theater, Batsheva’s Gaga Workshop, Springboard Danse Montreal, San Francisco Conservatory, and The Banff Centre for the Arts.
She joined Crystal Pite’s Kidd Pivot as an apprentice from 2016 to 2018. From there, she went on to dance for BodyTraffic, touring internationally for three seasons. Haley has always enjoyed freelancing and has performed with Peter Chu’s Chuthis, guested with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, been in residency with LA Dance Project, and toured in “It Starts Now,” a full-length evening choreographed by Alejandro Cerrudo and produced by the Joyce Theater. Haley was named a cultural ambassador for the arts by the Obama Administration, teaching dance and performing works in Algiers, Algeria. In 2019, Haley became one of the co-founders and co-directors of HD Theatre, a contemporary dance company in Southern California.
Over the past ten years, Haley has been teaching, choreographing, and organizing workshops and intensives, leading to two of her students being awarded the Young Arts Scholarship with her solo choreography. Most recently, Haley has started a mentorship program for dancers pursuing post-secondary dance education. She believes in the value of pursuing and sharing dance in our world in any capacity.
Madison Hicks holds a BFA in Dance from The Juilliard School and an MFA in Choreography from California Institute of the Arts. She is the Director and Founder of The Moving Forward Collective where she presents original work by herself and her collaborators. She has received choreographic residencies at Dance Gallery Festival, Orsolina28, 14StreetY, Chez Bushwick, DanceLabNY, and was a Jacob’s Pillow Ann and Weston Hicks Choreographic Fellow. Madison has been commissioned by universities such as Harvard, Loyola Marymount, The Fordham Ailey BFA program, Peabody University, University of Texas, and Wayne State University. She has also been commissioned by companies such as Vitacca Ballet, Ballet Arkansas, Avant Chamber Ballet, Mash-Up Contemporary Dance company, Ballet Project OC, and Water Street Dance Milwaukee. Most recently, she worked alongside Tony Yazbeck and Chip Abbott as Associate Choreographer for Manhattan Concert Production’s Children of Eden at Lincoln Center.
Madison is also a passionate and dedicated teacher. She was the first contemporary teacher at School of American Ballet, where she built the curriculum for the program. She has been a guest teacher in programs such as The Juilliard School, Adelphi University, California Institute of the Arts, Lindenwood University, and others. Madison joined DanceONE’s 24Seven faculty in 2022 and is a faculty member at Steps on Broadway.
She was full-time company member with LA Dance Project under the direction of Benjamin Millepied for the 2018/2019 season and joined Sidra Bell Dance New York in 2022.
JOE DAVIS was born and raised in the beautiful hills of upstate New York, and can easily be identified by his cacophonous laughter. He began his training in Rochester, New York, and continued his studies at The Juilliard School on scholarships from The NYCDAFoundation and Cornell University. During his training he performed principal roles in the works of Symphony of Psalms by Jirí Kylián, and Baker’s Dozen by Twyla Tharp. He also performed works by notable choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Kyle Abraham, Martha Graham, Camille A. Brown and Brian Brooks. From 2016-2022 he was a dancer with LA based contemporary company BODYTRAFFIC, where he traveled twice to Algeria as a cultural ambassador for the arts representing The U.S. in the International Modern Dance Festival. As a company member he toured internationally to Russia, Holland, Poland, Indonesia, Serbia and Mexico, and choreographed internationally in the cities of Jakarta and Hong Kong. Professionally, he has performed pieces by renowned choreographers such as Hofesh Shechter, Alejandro Cerudo, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Micaela Taylor, Barak Marshall, Arthur Pita, Victor Quijada, Matthew Neenan, Sidra Bell and Richard Seigal. He has been a guest artist with Long Beach Opera, LA Chamber Orchestra, Heidi Duckler Dance Company, TORRENT, and Clairobscur Dance. In 2019 he co-founded HD Theatre with partner Haley Heckethorn, a contemporary dance company that performs and commissions work by upcoming and established chore- ographers, while also providing educational spaces for youth
dance programs.
On film, Joe can be seen in Calvin Klein’s Spring ’22 campaign, music video Man’s World, written by MARINA and directed by Alexandra Gavillet, as well as Requim for Air and Normalcy by Laurie Sefton. In addition to performing and cho- reographing he has taught master classes at institutions such as Steps on Broadway, Loyola Marymount University, Chapman Uni- versity, Santa Monica College, UCLA and numerous dance stu- dios across the country, and is currently on faculty at CalArts in Valencia, CA. Joe is a lead Dance Church® teacher, an all-inclu- sive and community driven outlet to dancing.
Greg Lau was born in Honolulu, Hawaii where he began his training at Mid-Pacific Institute School of the Arts. After attending The Juilliard School, Gregory joined Nederlands Dans Theater 2 in 2013 and went on to join Nederlands Dans Theater 1 in 2016. In 2019 he joined Crystal Pite's company Kidd Pivot. He has been a recipient of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts 1st Award in Modern Dance and Ballet. He has worked with choreographers such as Jiri Kylian, Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal, Marco Goecke, Paul Lightfoot & Sol Leon, Hans Van Manen, Johan Inger, Edward Clug, Medhi Walerski, Alexander Ekman, Camille A.Brown and more. Gregory was recently featured in Doja Cat's 2021 VMAS Performance and toured with Mats Ek's duet program Dialogues.
Omar Román de Jesús is a queer Puertorriqueño choreographer and the director of the NYC-based dance company BOCA TUYA. Currently, he is a proud Artist in Residence at 92NY. Omar is the inaugural Baryshnikov Arts Center Fellow at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park and a 2023 Dance Magazine Harkness Promise Awardee. His accolades include the 2022 Princess Grace Award in Choreography, the 2022 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Choreography, the 2022 Palm Desert Choreography Festival Grand Prize, and the 2020 Ann & Weston Hicks Choreography Fellowship at Jacob’s Pillow.
He has been commissioned to create works for over 20 companies and pre-professional schools, including The Paul Taylor Dance Company, Charlotte Ballet, The Juilliard School, Ballet Hispánico, BalletCollective, Limón 2, SALT Dance, St. Louis Dance Theater, MOVE NYC, Bruce Wood Dance, Joffrey Ballet Concert Group, Whim W’Him, Parsons Dance, The Ailey School, Kennesaw State University, James Madison University, and Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
Omar’s works for stage and screen have been presented worldwide, receiving top recognitions through the Joffrey Academy of Dance's Winning Works Choreographic Competition, Whim W’Him’s Choreographic Shindig, The Dance Gallery Festival, Reverb Dance Festival, and the International Dance Festival of Puerto Rico, where he was awarded the Ambassador of Dance medal. His screendance, Los Perros del Barrio Colosal, has been viewed by audiences in over 20 countries and was awarded Best of Screen Dance International as well as Best Choreography and Best Narrative at the ReThink Dance Film Festival. Over the past five years, he has toured internationally to Colombia, Panama, and the Canary Islands, and has presented work domestically in New York, Georgia, Washington, Pennsylvania, and California. In 2023, his piece Papagayos, commissioned for Ballet Hispánico, premiered at New York City Center and traveled to North Carolina for the American Dance Festival. Most recently, Like Those Playground Kids at Midnight was presented in celebration of the 92NY 150th anniversary.
Omar is fond of education and has experience teaching workshops and master classes all over the world for professional dancers, students with special needs, people with physical disabilities, and marginalized communities.
